MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS LA SALLE IN OPENING ROUND, FALLS TO GEORGE WASHINGTON IN QUARTERFINALS OF ATLANTIC 10 CHAMPIONSHIPS.

MONROEVILLE, PA-The Temple University men's tennis team defeated La Salle 4-0 in an opening round match before losing to George Washington 4-0 in a quarterfinal meeting at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Thursday, April 8, at Oxford Athletic Club. The Owls, seeded No. 7, will meet No. 5 Xavier at 2:00 on Friday in the fifth-place bracket. The other side of the fifth-place bracket features No. 6 Dayton versus No. 8 Rhode Island.
Top-seeded Richmond took a 4-0 margin over Rhode Island on Thursday to secure its semifinal spot against St. Bonaventure, while second-seeded George Washington will face No. 3 Saint Joseph's, which defeated Dayton, in Friday's other semifinal match.
Tyler Wynn defeated La Salle's Ron Gargullo (6-2, 6-3) in first singles before Yhonny Murray downed Tyler Edwards (6-1, 6-4) in second singles on Thursday. Jon Sy and James Logan also won singles matches to secure the Owls' opening-round shut out of the No. 10-seeded Explorers.
Unfortunately, the Cherry & White got a taste of its own medicine against the Colonials in the quarterfinals. Matt Strumble, Sy and Logan all suffered defeats in the shut out. Wynn and Murray both had their hotly-contested matches halted after George Washington met the required win total to gain victory.
