TEMPLE IN FIFTH PLACE AFTER DAY ONE OF PRINCETON GOLF INVITATIONAL

PRINCETON, NJ-The Temple University men's golf team is in fifth place after a shooting a first round 297 on day one of the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club. The Owls trail first place Princeton (291) by six strokes and second place George Washington (292) by five strokes in the 23-team field.

Six teams shot below 300 on a mild but breezy day, and seven teams are within nine strokes of the lead after the first round. The Invitational concludes tomorrow on the par 71, 6,390-yard course.

Navy's Billy Hurley leads the individual race after the first day thanks to a three-under-par 68, including a 33 on the back nine. George Washington's Jack Tyler, Lehigh's Alan Borowsky and William and Mary's Gary Barton are tied for second place after shooting one-under-par 70.

Freshman Logan Terry paced the Cherry & White with a one-over par 72 to enter day two tied for ninth. Billy Mullen (T-16th, 73), James Chan (T-36th, 76), Matt Roberts (T-36th, 76) and Patrick O'Neill (T-106th, 84), comprised the rest of the Temple scorecard. 119 student-athletes are competing in the tournament.
