CLINTON, DUNSTON AND CAMPBELL ADVANCE TO 110-METER HURDLES FINAL WITH TOP THREE TIMES AT A-10 TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

RICHMOND, Va. -- Temple's Rachel Clinton, Jessica Dunston and Jaweia Campbell sprinted to the top three times in the 100-meter hurdles trials to advance to the finals Sunday of the 2004 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of Richmond at Sports Backer Stadium. Rhode Island holds a 12-point lead over Richmond, 92.5-80.5, after the first day of competition. Duquesne is in third place with 54.5 points, followed by Massachusetts (40.5), Saint Joseph's (28), La Salle (6), Temple (4) and Dayton (3).

Clinton and Dunston, both juniors, entered the meet with the two fastest times this season. The duo held form with Clinton running a 14.17 and Dunston a 14.57. Campbell, the Owls senior co-captain, transformed the duo into a trio with her qualifying time of 14.73. She also qualified for the finals in 100 meters with a time of 12.97.

Freshman Erin Davis earned the Owls' only team points on the day placing fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters (5-01 feet).

The meet will continue Sunday at 8:45 a.m. The last scheduled event is the men's 4x400 meter relay at 2:25 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony. The first and second place performers of each event are named to the First and Second -Team All-Conference, respectively.
