CLINTON AND DUNSTON CAPTURE GOLD IN THE 100 AND 400-METER HURDLES AS TEMPLE DOMINATES HURDLE EVENTS AT A-10 WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

RICHMOND, Va. -- Temple's Rachel Clinton, Jessica Dunston and Jaweia Campbell sprinted to the top three places in the 100-meter hurdles final. Dunston followed that impressive performance by winning the 400-meter hurdles title on the final day of the 2004 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of Richmond at Sports Backer Stadium on Sunday May 2. Overall the Owls placed eighth with 60.50 points, Rhode Island won the team title with a score of 187.50.

Clinton won her fourth consecutive meet in a blazing time of 13.97, Dunston captured second (14.05) followed by Campbell, who crossed the tape in 14.30. Temple continued its domination of the hurdles in the 400- meter hurdles posting three of the six fastest times as Dunston won the 400 meter-hurdles title with a time of 1:03.53, Aisha Raheem placed fourth (1:05.10) and Tynisha Gardner finished sixth (1:06.19).

Temple's 4x100 relay team placed fourth with a time of 48.65 and its 4x800 relay team placed fifth (9:21.66).

Dunston was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team in the 100 and 400-meter hurdles and Clinton in the 100-meter hurdles. Clinton and Dunston's victories also earned them a trip to compete in the NCAA Regionals in two weeks.
