WOMEN'S CREW VARSITY 8 REACHES DAD VAIL FINALS

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University Women's Varsity 8 took sixth place (7:12.65) in the finals of the Dad Vail Regatta Saturday, May 8 on the Schuylkill River. The Varsity 8 qualified for the finals by finishing second (6:39.4) in its semifinal heat Saturday morning.

 

 

The Owls' Varsity 8 raced in lane one in the finals against Saint Joseph's (lane two), Villanova (lane three), Sacramento State (lane four), Cal-Davis (lane five) and Fordham (lane six). The boat consisted Sarah Evancho (cox), Megan Tuckey, Lauren Guttilla, Nicole Warrick, Stefanie Kolle, Lindsay Robidoux, Ulana Luciw, Stephanie Hanlin and Nikki Rodgers. Sacramento State won the women's Varsity 8 competition in a time of 6:54.46.

 

 

Temple's JV 8 took third place (7:11.99) in the finals on Saturday. The JV 8 consisted of Carrie Kelley (cox), Krytyna Rejrat, Emily Smith, Kelly Gross, Sarah Allen, Callie Gunnet, Alexis Sakulich, Michele Bailey and Kristen Herrmann. UConn won the women's JV 8 in a time of 7:00.94.

 

 

The Owls' Freshman/Novice 4 placed fifth (7:57.6) in its semi-final race on Saturday. The Freshman/Novice 4 boat consisted of Jennica Tucker (cox), Nicole Watson, Deana Speck, Lauren Park and Diana Redington. The top two finishers from this race (University of Florida and William and Mary) advanced to the Freshman/Novice 4 finals.
