VOLLEYBALL TOPS NORTH DAKOTA STATE FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

GREEN BAY, WI - The Temple volleyball team earned its first win of the season when it defeated North Dakota State in five games in day one of the Amerihost Classic on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on September 10. The game scores were 30-19, 30-28, 26-30, 21-30 and 15-12 for the Owls. Temple raised its record to 1-3 on the season.
Freshman Yue Liu led the Owls in her first contest of the season with 14 kills and hit .294 in the match. Senior Zhen Jia Liu and sophomore Linsey Morningstar added nine kills apiece for Temple while setter Alison Runk had 43 assists.
Sheila Parrish led a quartet of double-digit kill performers for North Dakota State with a match-high 16 kills. Emily Kaufmann (14), Kate Haider (14) and Sheri Swanson (11) also notched double figure kill numbers. Setter Emily Luensmann had a match-high 51 assists for NDSU.
Play continues for the Owls in the Amerihost Classic as day two gets underway with a match against IPFW at 5:00 p.m.
