MEN'S SOCCER POSTS FIRST WIN OF SEASON, 1-0 OVER LIU

LONG ISLAND, NY - Freshman Stephen Bristow scored the first goal of the 2004 campaign for the Temple men's soccer team and freshman goalkeeper Tony Pratico made it stand up as the Owls defeated host Long Island, 1-0, in the final game of the FieldTurf/Courtyard by Marriott, LaGuardia Soccer Classic at LIU Field.
The New Castle, England native connected on the game-winner in the 35th minute, off assists from senior Steven Wacker and junior Tony Donatelli. Bristow had fired four previous shots before registering his first collegiate goal. He recorded a game-high eight shots on the day.
Pratico, who registered his first collegiate win, made seven saves in the contest.
Senior Steven Wacker and junior Tony Donatelli were named to the all-tournament team for Temple.
Pittsburgh defeated Hofstra, 2-1, in the first match to capture the tournament title.
The Owls, now 1-3, next play at Rutgers on Wednesday night (7:00 p.m.). LIU falls to 0-3-1.
