PHILADELPHIA - Playing through heavy winds and rain on a miserable Saturday afternoon the Temple men's soccer team evened its record at 3-3 with a 2-0 shutout of Drexel University in a Philadelphia Soccer Seven match at Vidas Field. It was the third straight win for the Owls and the third-straight loss for the Dragons (2-3).

The Owls got on the board late in the first half when freshman Ryan McMullan beat Drexel goalkeeper Jim Greco to give the Owls in the 42nd minute. Drexel had a chance to tie it in the final seconds of the first half, but a header by Calum Hardie off an indirect kick from Joe Banks was turned aside by Temple keeper Patrick Hannigan. It was one of four saves by Hannigan in the game as he recorded his second consecutive shutout.

In the second half, Temple got an insurance goal when Matt Maher beat Greco (four saves) and put home a feed from Nick Ebersole in the 57th minute. Ebersole also assisted on McMullan's tally.

The Owls next play at the Dartmouth Tournament on Friday September 24 against Central Connecticut State (1:30 p.m.).
