OWLS PLACE FOURTH AT MCLAUGHLIN GOLF INVITATIONAL

FARMINGDALE, NY-The Temple University golf team, under the direction of first-year head coach Brian Rogers, shot a three-round 886 (293-303-290) to finish fourth out of nine teams at The McLaughlin, played September 24-25 at the Bethpage Red Course. The Owls' best effort was their final round on Saturday, as they improved from sixth place in the team standings after day one action that consisted of two rounds on Friday.

Senior Billy Mullen was the Owls top performer, carding a six-over 216 (73-72-71) on the par 70, 6,683-yard course to finish tied for sixth place. Sophomore Logan Terry also placed among the top ten, shooting a nine-over 219 (70-77-72) to finish tied for ninth in the 49-player field. Matt Roberts (t-26th, 225), Patrick O'Neill (34th, 228) and A.J. Tomasello (44th, 239) rounded out the Temple scorecard.

Maryland won the McLaughlin team championship for the second consecutive year. The Terps shot a final round three-under par 277 to finish at 13-over par 853 a remarkable 22 strokes ahead of the nine-team field. In second place was St. John's at 35-over par 875, followed by Boston College at 40-over par 880, Temple at 46-over par 886, and rounding out the top five was Connecticut at 47-over par 887.

Maryland's Tyler Whitman held on to win the individual race by one-stroke over teammate Matt Schall. Whitman shot a final round even par 70 to finish at two- over par 212 for the tournament. Schall carded a final round two-under par to finish at three-over par 213.
