TEMPLE ANNOUNCES 2004-05 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

9.8.04 | Women's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University has announced its 2004-05 women's basketball schedule. Head coach Dawn Staley's tradition of scheduling tough competition continues as the list of opponents includes 11 postseason tournament teams. The slate is highlighted by a trip to Knoxville, Tennessee to take on the 2004 NCAA runner-up Lady Vols and a visit from perennial powerhouse LSU to the Liacouras Center.

Temple opens the season on the road when it takes on Brown on November 19. LSU's Lady Tigers are the Owls' first home opponent when they visit Philadelphia on November 23. Other 2004 postseason participants on the schedule include Florida (NCAA), Rutgers (NCAA), Villanova (NCAA), Penn (NCAA) and Hampton (NCAA). Atlantic 10 opponents George Washington (NCAA), Richmond (WNIT), Saint Joseph's (WNIT) and Xavier (WNIT) also participated in postseason play.

The 2004-05 Temple schedule also includes a nationally-televised game (ESPN2) at Richmond on January 23 and a doubleheader with the Owls' men's team on December 13. In that doubleheader, the women will take on Rutgers while the men will face Wake Forest.

The Owls will have to travel south to defend their Atlantic 10 Conference Championship as the 2005 A-10 Women's Basketball Championship will be held at the Charles E. Smith Center on the campus of George Washington.
