PHILDADELPHIA- The Temple women return home to the Liacouras Center on Thursday looking for their ninth straight win as they take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at 12:00 p.m.. The Owls are 11-3 overall and 3-0 in the Atlantic 10, while the Bonnies are 6-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Thursday's game also marks the Third Annual Dawn Staley School Day, featuring educational sessions and activities for more than 4,000 school children from local Philadelphia schools.
Candice Dupree and Kamesha Hairston tallied a repeat performance of their game against Rhode Island to lead Temple to its eighth straight win, a 67-51 victory over Fordham on Sunday afternoon. Dupree scored 16 to lead Temple, while Hairston tallied 13. Ari Moore was the leading rebounder for Temple, grabbing nine. Moore added a game-high four steals to her six points. Cynthia Jordan dished out six assists, while on her way to her second zero-turnover game of the season.
Dupree leads the way for TU with 15.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game to pace three Owls in double figures. She is followed by Jordan (12.3 ppg, 3.8 rpg), and Hairston (11.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg). Moore is averaging 6.3 rpg.
The Owls travel to LaSalle next for an Atlantic 10/Big 5 match-up on Monday, January 18th at 1:00 p.m.
St. Bonaventure dropped a 66-51 decision to Atlantic 10 rival Richmond Sunday afternoon. The Bonnies ran with the up-tempo Spiders in the opening half, but a second half Richmond surge proved to be too much for the the team to overcome. Senior Tory Vyborny was the only Bona player to register in double-figures with 13 points. Stefanie Collins finished the game with eight points, including two threes, to go with two assists. Senior Caitlin Crist and freshman guard Priscilla Edwards scored six points apiece.
St. Bonaventure is led by Collins, who is averaging 14.8 ppg and team-leading 20 steals. Vyborny is chipping in with 12.4 ppg and a team-topping 6.9 rpg. Crist is totaling 34 assists to go along with her 4.1 ppg and 5.1 rpg.
