MEN'S TENNIS IMPROVES TO 3-0 WITH WIN OVER PHILLY U

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple men's tennis team defeated Philadelphia University, 7-0, in its home opener Wednesday afternoon at the Temple Pavilion to improve to3-0 under first year head coach Steve Mauro.  The three wins match the Owls total for the entire 2004-05 season.

Temple's top five singles performers -- Milan Juricka, Matt Struble, Philip Gegenheimer, Zach Tobias and Jon Sy, posted straight set wins while Kris Celtnieks took his match 8-2.

Juricka and Sy teamed for an 8-2 win at first doubles while Struble and Tobias won 8-5 at the second slot.  Rob Spencer and Gegenheimer completed the sweep with an 8-1 victory at third doubles.

The Owls next travel to Delaware for an 11:00 a.m. match on Sunday, October 9.
