DAVIS MEETS ECAC QUALIFYING MARK IN HIGH JUMP AT PRINCETON

PRINCETON, NJ - Junior Erin Davis became the first Temple athlete this season to reach ECAC qualifying standards by clearing 5-7 in the high jump at the unscored New Year Invitational at Princeton on Saturday. Davis was third in the event and was edged by Manhattan's Caitlyn Kjolhede, who cleared 5-8.
Sophomore Cheryl Anscombe had a strong showing in the sprints, finishing fourth in the 60m (8.00) and the 300m (42.32). Freshman Rose Drayton also reached the finals in the 60m, placing eighth (8.04).
For the second straight week, the Owls performed well in the 500m. Sophomore Shanice DePass finished fourth with a season-best 1:18.80 and freshman Devon DuPont was on her heels in fifth (1:19.36). The 4x400 relay also finished third (4:05.34). In the jumps, freshman Brittany Cooper was sixth in the long jump (16-10).
The meet was the final event of 2005 for the Owls, who will return to action on January 7, 2006 at the Gulden Relays at Bucknell.
