HOLIDAY BASKETBALL DOUBLEHEADER AT THE LIACOURAS CENTER THURSDAY

-- Temple basketball provides a holiday treat Thursday evening with a men's-women's basketball doubleheader.  In the first game, the nationally-ranked (#23/25) Temple women's basketball team hosts Philadelphia Big 5 rival Villanova at 5:30 p.m. with the Owls men's team taking on SEC power South Carolina at 8:00 p.m. 

The Temple women's team (7-2, 1-0 Big 5), fresh off a dramatic 69-66 overtime win over #15/17 Georgia Monday night, takes on a Villanova team that is 7-2 overall and undefeated in Big 5 play following a 58-57 win at La Salle on Tuesday night.  All-America candidate Candice Dupree leads the Owls, averaging 17.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.

In the men's game, the Owls (5-3) are looking to rebound from a 73-42 loss at Auburn Sunday. Temple is 3-0 at the Liacouras Center this season, including a 68-58 win over then nationally-ranked Alabama on December 10.  South Carolina (7-2) is led by senior forward Tarence Kinsey (16.6 ppg.).
