CLINTON CAPTURES THIRD STRAIGHT 55M HURDLES TITLE AS TEMPLE FINISHES FIFTH AT A-10S

KINGSTON, RI -- Senior Rachel Clinton won her third straight championship in the 55m hurdles in a ECAC qualifying and season-best time of 7.94 as Temple finished fifth at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday at Rhode Island. Sophomore Tynisha Gardner also won the 400m in a season-best time of 57.35 and is just 0.01 seconds of qualifying for the ECAC Championships. Host Rhode Island edged La Salle to successfully defend its team title.
Senior Jessica Dunston also earned all-conference honors by finishing second in the 55m hurldes (8.08). Senior Farren Benson was all-A-10 after a second place showing in the long jump (17-8 1/4).
Several Owls turned in third place showings at the event, including freshman Shanice DePass (500m, 1:17.32) and the 4x400 relay team of Dunston, Gardner, freshman Jessica Starace, and senior Tiffany Duncan (3:59.00).
Rhode Island (132.83) was followed by La Salle (127), Richmond (109), Duquesne (90.66), Temple (74), UMass (58.50), Fordham (57), Dayton (48), and Saint Joseph's (42). First year program Xavier (2) finished 10th.
