DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, SC -- The Temple men's golf team shot a two-round 662 (335-327) to finish tied for seventh in the 18-team field at the Lonnie Barton Memorial at Haig Point Club, March 12-13. Senior team captain Billy Mullen was the Owls' top performer, carding a 162 (82-80) in difficult conditions to finish tied for 17th on the par 72 course.
Sophomore James Boose, after carding a 82 on Saturday, shot an 83 on Sunday to finish tied for 27th with a 165. Sophomore Logan Terry (82-86=168), senior Matt Roberts (89-83=172), and freshman A.J. Tomasello (91-95=186) comprised the rest of the Cherry & White scorecard.
Seniors Pat O'Neill and Brad Roberts were both disqualified on Saturday. The pair returned to shoot 81 and 84, respectively, on Sunday.
Concord captured the team title with a 634 (314-320) score in the preseason event played upon Haig Point's signature course, which was rated as one of the nation's "Top 100" by Golf Digest. 125 student-athletes competed in the event that was comprised of teams from the Northeast.
The Owls, under the direction of first-year head coach Brian Rogers, return to action April 2-3 at the George Washington Invitational at Swan Point Country Club in Issue, Md.
