PHILADELPHIA -- Senior Rachel Clinton of the women's indoor track team has been named the Owlsports.com Athlete of the Month for February. Highlighted by her third straight Atlantic 10 Championship in the 55m hurdles, Clinton was dominant during the month and helped the Owls to a fifth place finish at A-10s.
The Columbia, Md. native had her best showing at the Atlantic 10 Championships on February 19. Clinton won the 55m hurdles in an ECAC-qualifying and season-best time of 7.94 to capture her third straight conference title in the event. She also finished sixth in the 55m dash in a season-best time of 7.30.
A week prior, Clinton led the Owls to their first team title of the season at the Thomson Invitational. She qualified for the ECAC Championships by winning the 60m hurdles in a season-best time of 8.52. Clinton started the month by winning the 60m hurdles and finishing third in the 60m dash at the UMES Hawk Games.
An academic all-conference pick, Clinton will compete at this weekend's ECAC Championships looking to meet the NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 55m hurdles. She is just 0.08 seconds from reaching that mark.
