PHILADELPHIA -- Senior Alexis Zafferes has qualified to compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on vault held at the University of New Hampshire Saturday, April 9th. Her season high is a 9.725 and her qualifying average was 9.606. Representatives from the team will also be participating in the USA Gymnastics National Championships taking place April 14-16th at Cornell University.

The last Temple women's gymnast to qualify for NCAA Regionals was Cicely Warrington, who competed all-around in 2002.

A great mix of youth and experience will represent the Owls at the USAG National Championship. Seniors Erin Davis and Zafferes both qualified to compete. Davis will be on bars and beam, while Zafferes will compete in the all-around competition.

Juniors Jennifer Blatt and Lindsey Stern will be competing on vault and beam, respectively. Joining them in the competition will be underclassmen Christine McNeil competing on bars and Alycia Petitto on the floor exercise.

The Cherry and White competed in USAG's last season and placed fourth. Head coach Ken Anderson, now in his 21st season hopes for an improvement this time around. The Owls, currently ranked ninth in the Northeast Region, concluded their 2004-05 season with an 18-18 record.
