ZAFFERES FINISHES SEVENTH ON VAULT AT USAG NATIONALS

ITHACA, NY -- Temple senior Alexis Zafferes placed seventh on vault with a 9.312 score Saturday afternoon, April 16, in the event finals of the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals hosted by Cornell. The Needham, Mass. native advanced to the finals on the heels of a 9.625 score in Thursday evening's preliminary round, which earned her USAG All-America status.

Seattle Pacific's Kari Kelly won the vault with a 9.712 effort.

Five Owls competed in the preliminary round. Senior Erin Davis competed on both bars and beam, finishing 39th (9.175) and 44th (9.075), respectively. Christine McNeill placed 27th on bars with a 9.425 effort, Jennifer Blatt finished 35th on vault with a 9.400 score and Lindsey Stern placed 55th on beam with a 8.850 performance.

Zafferes also competed at the NCAA Northeast Regional on April 9 and posted a 9.125 score on vault to finish 41st in the event.
