TEMPLE CREW COMPETES AT 67TH DAD VAIL REGATTA

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Temple Women's Crew raced hard but was unable to secure spots in the Saturday afternoon finals. The Varsity 8, which had made it into last years final, did not qualify for the final in their semi on Saturday May 14. The JV that finished third last year was upset in the Friday May 13 semi leaving them out of the Saturday final.
There were thirty-three crews racing to qualify into the Varsity 8 final. The Varsity 8 of Sarah Evancho (cox), Stephanie Hanlin (stroke), Regina Rahill (7-seat), Nicole Warrick (6-seat), Ulana Luciw (5-seat), Leah Silverstein (4-seat), Rachel Jordan (3-seat), Callie Gunnet (2-seat), and Kristen Herrmann (bow) made it into the reps on Friday qualifying them for Saturday semis where West Virginia and Purdue claimed the two spots for the Final.
The bronze medal winners in the JV 8 event last year fell out of contention for the final. Uconn and Buffalo upset the JV 8 of Robin Wang (cox), Lauren Fattori (stroke), Lauren Guttilla (7-seat), Alexis Sakulich (6-seat), Emily Smith (5-seat), Pia King (4-seat), Dama Lewis (3-seat), Amanda Barr (2-seat), and Nicole Toner (bow) taking the two qualifying spots for the Saturday final.
The Novice 8 of (cox), Lindsay Mauk (stroke), Sherri Long (7-seat), Anne Marie Mikolajewski (6-seat), April Gaskins (5-seat), Laura Austin (4-seat), Robin Hernandez (3-seat), Ariel Weissburg (2-seat) and Jenn Scattene (bow) raced hard in their heats finishing third to qualify them for the semis out of 36 crews. Unfortunately they did not make it out of the semis to qualify for the finals.
With 49 crews trying to qualify for the semi in the Novice 4 event, the Novice 4 of Jennifer Azeles (cox), Sara Nguyen (stroke), Jackie Swan (3-seat), Kate Guth (2-seat), and Lauren Hard (bow) raced hard to the line, but finish fourth out of contention for the semis.
