DUNSTON, GARDNER WIN EVENTS AS TEMPLE PLACES FIFTH AT A-10S

RICHMOND, VA -- Senior Jessica Dunston and sophomore Tynisha Gardner won the 100m hurdles and 400m dash, respectively, as the women's track team finished fifth at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday at the University of Richmond. Dunston, whose time of 14.26 met ECAC qualifying standards, won her second 100m hurdles title in the past three years. Betewen classmate Rachel Clinton and Dunston, an Owl has won the last four 100m hurdles championships.

Gardner just missed out on ECAC qualifying but won her first individual A-10 title with a time of 56.63 in the 400m dash. Freshman Cheryl Anscombe placed fifth in the 100m dash (12.27) and classmate Jessica Starace was fourth in the 200m (25.69).

The Temple relays finished second, third and fourth respectively in the 4x400, 4x100, and 4x800 relays. Senior Farren Benson placed second in the triple jump and third in the long jump, while classmate Jillian Faulks was third in the triple jump.

Rhode Island edged Duquesne, 150-135, for the women's team title. La Salle finished third with 116 points, followed by Richmond (103), Temple (85.5), Fordham (82), Massachusetts (76.5), Dayton (73), Saint Joseph's (33), and Xavier (3).

Several Owls will compete at the ECAC Championships next Friday and Saturday at Princeton, N.J.
