CLINTON HONORED ON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

PHILADELPHIA -- Senior Rachel Clinton was today named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District II Women's Track and Field/Cross Country University Division team in voting conducted by area sports information directors. Clinton is an elementary education major with a 3.83 grade point average.

Clinton won her third straight individual championship in the 55m hurdles at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track Championships on February 19. An ECAC qualifier in the indoor 55m and 60m hurdles, Clinton missed the entire outdoor season due to injury.

During her career, the Columbia, Md. native won five Atlantic 10 hurdle championships and competed at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Regional. She was also named the Temple Female Student-Athlete of the Year at the third annual athletics Breakfast of Champions held on April 27. Clinton is also a four-time Academic All-Atlantic 10 honoree.

As a member of the first team, Clinton will move on to the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration. District II of the Academic All-America program comprises all colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, and Washington D.C. The University Division consists of all NCAA Division I schools.
