PHILADELPHIA - Temple University Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw announced today the elevation of two members of the department's senior staff. Kristen Foley, an assistant director of athletics since 2000, has been promoted to Associate Athletic Director, while Walt Holliday, who has been the University's Director of Academic Support for Student-Athletes, has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support.

"It is with great pride that I announce the promotion of Kristen Foley and Walt Holliday," said Bradshaw. "Both Kristen and Walt are loyal, hard-working Temple employees and valuable members of our athletic administration. It is very satisfying to be able to reward them for their service to the University."

In her role, Foley, who also serves as the department's Senior Women's Administrator, oversees the administration of 12 varsity sports, including budget construction, scheduling contests, student-athlete crisis intervention, and evaluation and review of coaches. In addition, she supervises the Academic Support and Compliance Units for student-athletes. Foley, who recently served as the Tournament Director of the 2005 NCAA Philadelphia Regional held at the Liacouras Center, presently serves as a member of the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee and three Atlantic 10 Committees: Executive, Softball and Volleyball, as well as chair of the NCAA Fencing Committee.

Foley earned a bachelor's degree in physical education/sports communications (1986) and a master's degree in educational administration (1991) from Rutgers University, where she was a four-year basketball letterwinner. She helped lead the Scarlet Knights to consecutive NCAA final eight appearances in 1986 and 1987, while being named to the NCAA East Regional all-tournament team in 1986. Prior to moving into athletic administration, she served as head coach of the Drexel and Temple women's basketball programs.

Now in his fifth year at Temple, Holliday is directly responsible for all academic support of the football, men's basketball, volleyball, and golf programs. In addition he oversees support services for 18 other athletic teams, serves as the admissions liaison for the athletic department, and supervises the athletic tutoring program.

Holliday came to Temple from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., where he had been a senior academic advisor since 1994. As a senior advisor, he was directly responsible for all academic support of the men's basketball team and managing one of three academic support centers on campus. Prior to Rutgers, the 1992 Upsala College graduate served as the offensive line coach at his alma mater from 1991--93. As an undergraduate he was a member of the school's football team, serving as captain and earning MVP honors during his senior season.
