ANNAPOLIS, MD -- In its first tournament of the 2005-06 season, an inexperienced Temple team shot a two-round 644 (324-320) to finish last in the 15-team field at the Navy Fall Invitational, played September 10-11 at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course. The Owls were 66 shots behind event champion George Mason (293-285=578), who out-distanced second place George Washington and Towson by 17 strokes.

True freshman Adam Pfifer, playing in his first collegiate event, was Temple's top performer, carding a 157 (79-78) to finish tied for 57th on the par 71 course. Junior James Boose placed tied for 60th with 158 (79-79) and sophomore A.J. Tomasello finished tied for 69th with a 161 (79-82). Freshman Pat Rugg (80th; 87-83=170) and junior Logan Terry (81st; 90-81=171) comprised the rest of the Cherry & White scorecard.

St. Joseph's Colin Corrigan was crowned the individual champion after beating out Steve Alminas of Winthrop and Bryan Bigley of Siena in an 11-hole tie breaker. Alminas had a spectacular day, shooting a 5-under par 66 in the final round to come from 44th to the top with a two-round 143.

Temple, under the direction of second-year head coach Brian Rogers, returns to the links September 16-17 at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, N.J.
