OWLS FINISH EIGHTH AT TOWSON FALL INVITATIONAL

MYERSVILLE, MD -- The Temple University golf team shot a two round 598 (302-296) to finish eighth at the Towson Invitational, played September 19-20 at Musket Ridge Golf Course. It was the third tournament of the season for a young Owl squad that has shown steady improvement with each outing.

 

For the third time in as many tournaments, James Boose was Temple's top performer. The junior carded a one over par 145 (69-76) to finish tied for 13th. Boose was complemented by freshman Adam Pifer, who shot three-over 147 (77-70) to finish tied for 20th in the 66-player field.

 

Campbell captured the team title with a seven under par 569 (284-285) total. George Mason finished second, 10 strokes behind (293-286=579), and James Madison placed in the show position with a 581 (287-294). The individual crown went to Campbell's Fredric Sundberg, who carded an eight under 136 (66-70) to finish three strokes ahead of second place Mike Cavanagh of George Mason.

 

11 players finished the tournament with under par scores on the 6,902-yard, par 72 course.

 

Freshman Pat Rugg shot a 154 (75-79) to finish tied for 48th. Junior Logan Terry (t-50th; 81-74=155) and sophomore A.J. Tomasello (t-60th; 85-61=161) comprised the rest of the Cherry & White scorecard.

 

The Owls, under the direction of second-year head coach Brian Rogers, return to the links at The McLaughlin, played September 23-24 at Bethpage (N.Y.) Country Club.
