9.24.05 | Men's Soccer

DURHAM, NC -- Seventh-ranked Duke scored in the fourth minute of play and never looked back in handing the Temple Owls a 4-0 loss in men's soccer action Saturday night at Koskinen Stadium.  Duke improves to 5-1-1 on the season while Temple falls to 2-6.

Blake Camp put the Blue Devils on the board with his second goal of the season at the 3:18 mark.  Camp then assisted on Mike Grella's third goal of the year in the 20th minute.  Chris Loftus tallied his team-high sixth goal nine minutes later off a Zach Pope assist. Pope followed that with a goal of his own just 24 seconds left to make it 4-0.

Temple coach David MacWilliams pulled starting keeper Bryant Hosler (1 save) in the 38th minute, inserting sophomore Tony Pratico for the second time this season.  Pratico (1 save), the projected starter, had injured his shoulder in training camp.

Camp added an insurance goal in the 71st minute to complete the scoring.

Justin Papadakis made two saves, both off the foot of freshman Will Chevrollier, in recording his second shutout of the season.

Duke coach John Rennie, a 1967 Temple graduate, moved into sixth place on the all-time Division I soccer win list with the victory.  He now has 418 career wins.
