PHILADELPHIA - Temple University sports fans are being called upon for their creativity to help name the newest member of the Owl mascot family. "Hooter's cousin," as he is currently known, will join current Temple Owl mascots Hooter the Owl and Baby Owl when he makes his much anticipated debut during Hooter's birthday celebration on Saturday, February 11 at 2 PM during the Temple-Duquesne Men's Basketball game at the Liacouras Center. Suggestions for the name of the mascot are now being accepted via e-mail at tickets@temple.edu and by regular mail at:

The person whose entry is selected as the name of the new mascot will be showered with a bevy of prizes including a pair of tickets for the 2006-07 Men's and Women's basketball season, a pair of 2006 Temple Football season tickets, an autographed John Chaney and Dawn Staley basketball, and an autographed football from new Temple Football head coach Al Golden.
Temple fans are encouraged to attend Hooter's birthday celebration during the Temple-Duquesne game. In addition to the unveiling of the new mascot, fans will have the ability to meet and interact with local sports team mascots such as the 76ers' Hip-Hop, the Phantoms' Phlex, The Phillie Phanatic, and the Eagles' Swoop. Also, there will be games and activities on the concourse for kids, and the first 2,500 children ages 12 and under will take home their very own Hooter Bank, courtesy of the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union.
