SOCCER STANDOUT TONY DONATELLI SELECTED IN MLS DRAFT

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple University senior midfielder Tony Donatelli has been selected with the eighth pick of the third round of Major League Soccer's supplemental draft by the new expansion franchise Houston 1836.  It marked the second straight year a Temple player was selected in the MLS supplemental draft as 2005 graduate Patrick Hannigan was taken by the MetroStars with the sixth pick of the third round last year. Donatelli was the only player taken in the supplemental draft from a Philadelphia Soccer Seven school and one of four players from Atlantic 10 Conference programs.

Donatelli, who participated at the 2006 MLS Combine, capped a stellar Temple career by leading the Philadelphia Soccer Seven in scoring for the second straight season, earning the 2005 league Player of the Year award.  He was also named first team all-Atlantic 10 Conference for the second straight season, and was named first team all-Mid-Atlantic Region.

The Glenside, PA native scored six goals and dished five assists for 17 points.  One of the top playmakers in Temple men's soccer history, Donatelli finished his career as the school's single season (9, 2004) and career (21) assist leader.
