1.28.06 | Men's Tennis
PHILADELPHIA -- Head coach Steve Mauro has the Temple men's tennis team off to a solid start in his first year at the helm. The new Owl mentor guided his team to its fifth win of the season Saturday night, defeating visiting St. Francis (NY), 7-0, at the Cheltenham Tennis Center. Temple, who won just three matches last season, is now 5-2.
Milan Juricka, Daniel Dabis, Philip Gegenheimer and Zach Tobias won their singles matches, 6-0, 6-0 while Matt Struble (6-1, 6-1) and Robert Spencer (6-0, 6-1) did not have to break much of a sweat either.
Doubles action was much of the same. Juricka and fellow senior Jon Sy won at love in first doubles while Gegenheimer and Tobias did the same at the third slot. Struble and Davis won their second doubles match, 8-2, to complete the sweep by the Owls.
Temple now takes a month off before traveling to Rhode Island for a February 25 match with the Rams.
