GARDNER, DAVIS PACE OWLS AT BUCKNELL GULDEN RELAYS

LEWISBURG, PA - Junior Tynisha Gardner won the 500m in a season-best time of 1:16.27 and classmate Erin Davis met ECAC standards in winning the high jump for the second straight meet as the Temple women's indoor track and field team competed at the unscored Bucknell Gulden Relays on Saturday. The meet was the first for the Owls in the new year.
Gardner, the reigning Atlantic 10 champion in the 500m, is now just 0.27 seconds off qualifying for ECACs in the event. Davis cleared 5-7 for the second straight meet and edged UMBC's Katrina Nathaniel (5-6) for the win.
Sophomore Cheryl Anscombe finished fourth in the 60m with a season-best time of 7.91, while classmate LaJonel Brown was sixth (8.00). Sophomore Noelle McKenzie was third in the mile with a season-best time of 5:34.35. Freshman Amanda Cole had two personal bests in the throws, finishing sixth in the shot put (35-8 1/2) and ninth in the weight throw (36-2 1/4).
Temple returns to action on Friday at the NYC Gotham Cup in New York City.
