Owls Finish Tied For 11th at Big 5 Classic

FLOURTOWN, PA - The Temple golf team shot a two-round 625 (307-318) to finish tied for 11th at the 15-team Big 5 Classic, held this weekend, October 14-15, at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Sophomore Adam Pifer paced the owls, finishing tied for 10th with a 151 (75-76) effort on the par 71, 6,834-yard course.
Pifer posted eight birdies in the tournament on the weekend, tying for the most of the Classic with Saint Joseph's Cole Wilcox. He also tied for the best average in par three scoring, averaging a 2.88 along with Navy's Chip Hardie.
Columbia won the event with a 23-over par 591 (295-296), 13 stokes better than second place Georgetown (300-304=604) and host Penn (301-303=604). Richmond (4th, 295-312=607) and William & Mary (5th, 323-286=609) rounded-out the top five. Columbia also had two of its players tie for the individual crown. On the first playoff hole, Chris Arkin defeated Chris Condello for medalist honors. Both Lions players shot two-round totals of 146.
Temple senior James Boose complemented Pifer well, shooting a 157 (78-79) to finish tied for 37th in the 75-player field. Kevin Busteed (41st, 77-81=158) Paul Amess (t-42nd, 77-82=159) and Hugo Braun (t-64th, 81-83=164) completed the rest of the Cherry and White scorecard.
Temple, under the direction of their-year head coach Brian Rogers, concludes its fall campaign at the Longwood Invitational in Farmville, Va., October 23-24.
