AMBLER, PA - The 11th-ranked Saint Louis Billikens spoiled Senior Day for the Temple men's soccer team with a 1-0 win at Ambler Field Sunday afternoon at Ambler Field. The Owls dictated the tempo of the game and had multiple scoring opportunities, but could not capitalize as they fall to 2-12-1 (1-6-0 in Atlantic 10 play). Saint Louis extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches with the victory and improves to 10-3-2 (6-0-1).

The teams played a scoreless first half, as the Temple backline of freshman Brant Hovington, senior Chris Shelton, senior Matt Maher and sophomore James Suevo made clutch plays to keep the Billikens off the scoreboard.

Temple sophomore forward Warren Richards came off the bench to provide a spark for the offense. His shot late in the first half nearly gave Temple the lead, but Saint Louis goalkeeper Ross Kaufman leaped high to his left to make an unbelievable save and keep the game scoreless.

The Billikens got on the board in the 61st minute when senior midfielder Alex Matteson took a pass from Larry Geraghty and fired the ball past Temple goalkeeper Tony Pratico for the game's lone score.

That was all the offense the Billikens would need, as each Temple threat was snuffed out by the Saint Louis defense.

Pratico recorded a game-high five saves, while Kaufman saved two in recording the shutout.

Prior to kickoff, the Owls honored their four seniors, Jonathan Ball, Ryan Heins, Maher and Shelton, who were playing in their final home game.

The Owls head to New York this Friday to take on Fordham. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
