Owls Conclude Fall Season With Fifth Place Finish

FARMVILLE, VA - The Temple golf team shot a three-round 951 (317-312-322) to finish tied for fifth at the Poplar Hill Intercollegiate, played Monday and Tuesday, October 23-24, at Poplar Hill Golf Club. Sophomore Adam Pifer paced the Cherry & White once again, carding a six-over par 222 (78-71-73) to place second in the 65-player field.
It marked the third straight tournament and the fifth time in six events this fall season that Pifer led the way for the Owls. The Telford, Pa. native posted a tournament-high 37 pars in the 54-hole event and ranked second in par 5 scoring with a 4.67.
Kennesaw State won the inaugural event with a 911 (304-293-314) on the 7,085-yard, par 72 course. Tournament co-host Longwood posted a 925 (304-313-308) to finish second in the 12-team field. James Madison finished in the show position with a 931 total. KSU's Kris Shepherd took individual medalist honors with a one-under par 215 (75-68-72), including an event low round of 68 in Monday's second round.
The tournament, which featured two rounds on Monday and one round on Tuesday, had seven eagles and 265 birdies. Pifer and senior co-captain James Boose were each responsible for seven birdies, while sophomore Eric Plisko posted his first career eagle in Cherry & White.
Boose complemented Pifer well, placing 21st with a 238 (79-80-79) effort. Senior Logan Terry (t-32nd, 80-80-85=245), junior Kevin Busteed (37th, 80-81-86=247) and Plisko (52nd, 86-84-85=255) comprised the rest of the team scorecard.
The tournament marked the final of the event of the fall season for the Owls, who are under the leadership of third-year head coach Brian Rogers.
