This is the second straight meeting for Drexel and Temple since the teams took a 31-year break. Temple defeated the Dragons, 66-54, at the Liacouras Center last season. This is the 10th time that the teams have played, with the Owls leading the all-time series 6-3.

Kamesha Hairston netted 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Temple women's basketball team to a 78-65 exhibition win over the visiting NY Gazelles on Friday night. Hairston, who posted a double-double in the first half (10 points, 10 rebounds), added three blocks and two assists to start the Owls' season off right. Shenita Landry scored 14 points, all of which came in the second half, while Fatima Maddox went 9-of-12 from the charity stripe to contribute 13 points. Freshman LaKeisha Eaddy dished an impressive seven assists and had three steals in her first collegiate game.

Drexel is coming off two straight losses to start the season. The Dragons fell to Penn State, 74-56, on Friday night despite double-figure scoring by Narissa Suber, Anora Suber and Gabriela Marginean. Marginean exploded for a 26-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead Drexel back from a 16-point first-half deficit against Loyola but wasn't enough as DU was defeated, 66-57.

Let's get it started
Temple is 5-1 in season openers under Dawn Staley, with its only falter coming at the hands of Evansville at the Preseason WNIT in 2001.

One of the regulars
Kamesha Hairston was selected to the preseason all-conference team and defensive team for the second straight season. Hairston, a 2005-06 First Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Team selection, finished second on the squad in scoring, averaging 12.8 ppg and 6.1 rpg.  The senior needs just 52 more points to become Temple's 15th 1,000th point scorer.
