PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's crew team completed a successful fall season in preparation for the spring 2007 campaign. The Owls followed up their strong Navy Day Regatta showing with solid performances in the Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta and the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta. The Schuylkill Banks Regatta and the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta were both cancelled due to inclement weather.

At the Frostbite Regatta, held on Saturday, November 11, the Owls finished in the top five of the Varsity 4 and Varsity 8 races. The Varsity 4 squad of freshman Colleen Sullivan (bow), junior Amanda Barr (2), sophomore Laura Altimari (3), senior Steph Hanlin (stroke) and junior Jen Azeles (cox) finished in fourth place with a time of 7:49.23 while the Novice 8 "A" squad also finished fourth with a time of 8:02.65.

The Owls Varsity 8 "B" squad consisting of junior Jackie Swan (bow), junior Danielle Britton (2), senior Kate Guth (3), sophomore Carolyn Bailey (4), sophomore Laura Scullin (5), senior Sara Nguyen (6), junior Katie Hoban (7), junior Laura Austin (stroke) and Azeles (cox) finished in second place with a time of 7:23.21. This same squad finished in first place at the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta held on Sunday, November 12, with a time of 4:58.45.

Temple's Varsity 8 "A" squad also finished in second place at the Frostbite Regatta and consists of junior Jessica Herrmann (bow), Barr (2), senior Leah Silverstein (3), senior Anne Mikolajewski (4), Sullivan (5), senior Lauren Fattori (6), Altimari (7), Hanlin (stroke), and sophomore coxswain Jill Ploof. The same boat finished in first place in their race at the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta with a time of 4:48.84. Also at the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta, Temple's Novice 8 "A" squad finished in second place with a time of 5:10.30, while the Novice 8 "B" squad finished in fourth place with a time of 5:48.94.

Overall, head coach Tim Hagan was pleased with the progress his team made throughout the fall season.

The Owls open their spring 2007 season on Saturday, March 10 in Melbourne, FL at the Keuper Cup.
