Cole, McRae Lead Temple Women's Track at Season-Opening Jack Pyrah Invitational

HAVERFORD, PA - Sophomore Amanda Cole won the weight throw with a new school record and freshman Brittney McRae captured the long jump as the Temple women's track team opened its indoor season at the Jack Pyrah Invitational at Haverford College on Friday. Cole posted a distance of 45-8 in the weight throw and was also fourth in the shot put (38-11 3/4). McRae was victorious in the long jump (17-11) and was second in the 55m hurdles (8.55).
Other strong showings on the oval were turned in by junior Natashia Gehr and sophomore Brittani Adams. Gehr was fourth in the 300m (42.64), while Adams was fourth in the 500m (1:22.88). Freshman Melissa Gale made her debut in the pole vault, finishing fourth (10-0) while sophomore Reava Potter was third in the triple jump (32-0 3/4).
The event is named for long-time Villanova track & field coach Jack Pyrah, who is being inducted to the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame this month. The Wildcats hosted the meet, despite it being held at Haverford.
Temple is back in action on Friday at the Princeton Invitational.
