McKENZIE NEARS SCHOOL RECORD AT COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL

NEW YORK, NY - Sophomore Noelle McKenzie finished 15th in the 1000m with a time of 3:02.04 to highlight the Temple performances at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the New York City Armory this weekend. McKenzie is now just 0.42 seconds off breaking the program record in the event, set by Tanesha Shelton in 2002.
Sophomore Shanice DePass finished 17th in the 500m (1:16.92) while freshman Brittani Adams (1:00.71) was 67th in the 400m. Sophomore Shanece Pratt finished 71st in the 200m.
The Owls also sent competitors to the East Stroudsburg Deschriver Invitational. Freshman Devon Dupont set a season-best by long jumping 17-2 3/4 to finish second. It is the longest jump by an Owl this season and in the top five in the Atlantic 10. She also tied senior Shavaun Christian for second in the high jump (5-2).
Temple returns to action at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 18. The meet is hosted by Rhode Island.
