TEMPLE PLACES FIRST IN DUAL MEET WITH WEST CHESTER

WEST CHESTER, PA-- The Temple women's gymnastics team placed first in a dual meet at West Chester. The Owls finished with a team score of 186.675 while the host, the Golden Rams, posted a season-high score of 178.875. The Owls had individual honors on three of four apparatuses. The win improves TU to 5-16 for the season.

The Cherry and White led after the first two rotations, posting a 46.675 on the bars while the Rams finished with a 45.025 on the vault. Owl sophomore Desiree Meredith (9.45) finished first in the event followed by sophomore Brittany Matthews (9.40) and Alycia Petitto (9.3). West Chester's Joell Koller placed fourth, posting a 9.225. Owl Sarah Liebowitz and West Chester's Caroline Krystopolski tied for fifth, each logging a 9.125. The Cherry and White had a 46.650 effort on the uneven bars while the Rams finished the apparatus with a 44.125.

Temple started the third rotation on the floor. Senior co-captain Lindsay Stern's 9.525 performance earned her first place honors on the event. West Chester's Krystopolski placed second with a 9.475. Temple's Natasha Crawford and WCU's Jessica Deutsch tied for third each posting a 9.40. The Owls finished the meet on the beam where they logged 47.100 while West Chester finished with a 43.475. Golden Ram Joelle Koller took first in the event, posting a 9.550. Owl Noelle Moore placed second in the event, scoring a 9.50.

Stern (37.350) placed first in All- Around followed by fellow Owls Sarah Liebowitz (37.325) and Natasha Crawford (37.025).

The Temple Owls next take on the Cornell Big Red on Sunday, March 12 at 1:00 PM. It will be Temple's final home meet of the season. Graduating seniors Dierdre Mattocks, Stern and Christine Zimmerman will be honored at the meet.
