MEN'S SOCCER SIGNS FOUR TO NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT

PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's soccer coach David MacWilliams announced the signing of four standout high school seniors -- Anthony Cicchini (Mullica Hill, NJ/Augustine Prep), Martin Dell'Anciprete (Lansdowne, PA/Delaware County Christian School), Brant Hovington (Coatesville, PA/Eleanor Roosevelt) and Tyler Melancon (Gonzales, LA/St. Amant) to National Letters of Intent.
"This is as strong a group of incoming freshmen that we have had come into the program since my arrival," said MacWilliams, who will be entering his sixth season at the helm. "These players should blend nicely with our veterans and allow Temple to remain among the elite programs in the Atlantic 10 Conference as well as the region."
Cicchini, the top scorer for the 2006 New Jersey Class A Parochial State Champion St. Augustine Prep, earned all- state honors in each of the past three years. The 6-3 forward scored 80 goals and dished 32 assists over his prep career. A solid student, he also was a member of the National Honors Society.
Dell'Anciprete, a midfielder/defender earned All- Southeastern Chester County honors during his junior and senior seasons. The team MVP as a senior, he helped lead Delaware County Christian School to the Class A District finals in 2002 and 2005. Like Cicchini, he is also a member of the National Honors Society.
Melancon, a three-time all-District selection, scored 82 career goals for St. Amant High. The 5-8 forward also earned All-State honors in both football and soccer during his junior season. He is just as accomplished in the class room, earning adidas/NSCAA Scholar All-America accolades.
Hovington tallied 10 goals and dished two assists in earning first team all-County honors his senior season at Eleanor Roosevelt High. The 6-1 defender has been a member of the U15 U.S. National Team and currently plays with the Casa Mia Boys club team. He plans to major in computer engineering at Temple.
The quartet joins a Temple program that has advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship game in two of the past three seasons.
