3.22.06 | Men's Tennis
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ -- The weather may have been frigid, but it was not able to cool off the Temple University men's tennis team Wednesday afternoon. The Owls posted their 11th win of the season, defeated host Monmouth 4-1 in a match shortened due to cold weather and windy conditions.
The team opened by taking the doubles point with the combinations of Eduardo Saavedra/Jordan Krevitz and Matt Struble and Daniel Davis winning at the second and third positions. The Owls' top team of Philip Gegenheimer and Zach Tobias were leading 5-2 before their match was halted as the point had already been secured.
Gegenheimer, Saavedra and Tobias posted straight set wins at fourth, fifth and sixth singles, respectively to give Temple the needed four points for victory. Krevitz dropped his #1 singles match while Davis and Struble were leading their second and third flight when play was halted.
