OWLS FINISH TIED FOR 20TH AT GW INVITATIONAL

BETHANY BEACH, DE -- The Temple golf team shot a two-round, 54-over par, 630 (318-312) to finish tied for 20th at the George Washington Invitational, played March 25-26 at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Course. Junior team co-captain James Boose was the Owls' top performer, carding an 11-over 155 (80-75) to finish tied for 60th in the 135-player field.

 

Freshmen Justin Masters and Kevin Busteed both saw their first collegiate action in Cherry & White. Masters finished tied for 69th with a 156 (78=78, +12) effort and Busteed placed tied for 107th (81-81=162, +14). Junior Logan Terry (t-76th, 79-78=157) and freshman Pat Rugg (t-111th, 81-82=163) rounded-out the Temple scorecard.

 

Penn won the 25-team event played on the par 72, 6,834-yard course. The Quakers shot a 16-over 592 (292-300) to defeat second-place Delaware by a single stroke. Villanova finished third, just four shots off the pace.

 

Seton Hall's Kyle Morris captured the individual title, shooting a four-under par 140 (68-72) to best second place Brian Carroll of host George Washington by three strokes.

 

Temple, under the direction of second-year head coach Brian Rogers, returns to action at the Drew Upton Golf Classic, April 1-2, in Westover, Maryland.
