PHILIP GEGENHEIMER NAMED A-10 MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple sophomore Philip Gegenheimer has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Tennis Performer of the Week for the week ending March 26. Gegenheimer went unbeaten on the week in leading the Owls to a perfect 3-0 record in match play.
Gegenheimer posted a 3-0 record in singles and 2-0 in doubles to help Temple improve to 13-4 on the season and a perfect 4-0 against A-10 competition. In a 4-1 win at Monmouth on Mar. 22, the Los Angeles, CA native earned a 6-0, 6-0 fourth singles win. In a 7-0 pasting of Rider on Mar. 24, the sophomore took a 4-6, 6-0 (10-0) third singles victory and teamed with senior Milan Juricka for an 8-0 first doubles win. He closed the week with a 6-0, 6-0 sixth singles win and an 8-4 second doubles win in Temple's 6-1 triumph over Fordham on Mar. 26.
The transfer from UC-Riverside owns a team-best 19-6 singles record. Temple's 13 wins is the most by an Owl men's tennis team since the 1996-97 squad posted a 17-8 mark.
