OWLS FINISH NINTH IN SPRING OPENER

FORT PIERCE, FL - The Temple golf team finished ninth with a 637 (322-315) score at the seventh annual Treasure Coast Classic, played March 7-8 at Indian Hills Golf Course, its first event of the spring season. Johnson & Wales won the nine team tournament with a 576 effort on the par 72, 6,555-yard, bermuda grass course.

 

Junior Logan Terry was the Owls' top performer, carding a 36-hole 155 (76-79). Junior James Boose (82-77=159), sophomore A.J. Tomasello (80-82=162) and freshmen Adam Pifer (84-86=170) and Pat Rugg (93-77=170) comprised the rest of the Cherry & White scorecard

 

Johnson & Wales, located in Miami, finished three strokes in front of Bethune-Cookman. Tournament host St. John's was third at 581, Evansville finished fourth at 591 and Seton Hall placed fifth with a 595. Creighton, Niagara and Oakland comprised the remainder of the tournament field.

 

Temple, under the direction of second-year head coach Brian Rogers, returns to action at the George Washington Invitational, March 25-26, at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club in Bethany Beach, Del.
