MOORE PLACES FOURTH ON FLOOR AND SEVENTH ON BEAM AT USAG NATIONALS

ITHACA, NY -- Junior Noelle Moore placed fourth on floor and seventh on the beam logging the Temple women's gymnastics team's highest scores at the USAG Collegiate Nationals, and qualifying her to compete in the USAG finals to be held tomorrow. The Cherry and White finished seventh overall with a score of 188.950, their highest total of the season. UC Davis took the top spot (191.475) followed by Texas (191.250), Cornell (190.700), William & Mary (190.275), Rutgers (190.225), Centenary (189.175), Temple and Seattle (188.200).

Out of seven qualifying teams competing in the Collegiate Nationals, the Owls tied for first on the vault with Seattle, both schools turning in team scores of 47.875. The Cherry and White had a strong showing on the beam, finishing with a 47.525 and tying for third with William and Mary on the apparatus. Temple did not fare as well on the bars, finishing last with a 45.750. The Owls turned in a better performance on the bars, finishing the event with a 47.425.

Moore turned in dazzling performances on both the beam and the floor, earning top ten spots in both events. Moore logged a 9.750 on her beam routine, tying for seventh with Centenary's Julia Cornelius, William & Mary's Andrea Dochney and Rutgers's Gina Roselle. William & Mary's Jess Randall took first in the event, while Rutgers's Lorena Johnson finished second. Moore had an identical 9.750 performance on the floor, strong enough to put her in the fourth position for the event. Moore finished behind William & Mary's Brittany Gibbs (9.825) and Cornell's Leslie Gregory and Kari Kucera, who tied for second with a 9.775.

Moore and junior Sarah Liebowitz qualify for first team USAG All-America honors. Liebowitz placed fourth in All-Around, logging a 37.875. Sophomore Desiree Meredith earned second-team USAG All-America honors for her performance on the vault. Meredith turned in a 9.650 on the apparatus. The Cherry and White finish their season 5-19.
