DUPREE AND STALEY REPEAT AS BIG FIVE PLAYER AND COACH OF THE YEAR

PHILADELPHIA- Senior forward Candice Dupree capped off her final season with her second straight Big Five Player of the Year Award. Dawn Staley garnerned Coach of the Year honors after leading Temple to a 4-0 city series record for the second straight year. This is the fourth Big Five Coach of the Year award for Staley in six seasons. Temple was also voted Team of the Year for the second straight season.
Dupree was a six-time Big Five Player of the Week selection and averaged 17.4 ppg and 8.7 rpg. Dupree scored 20 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to lead the Owls over Saint Joe's on February 17 for Temple's second straight Big Five crown. She earned a double-double in the first half (10 points, 12 rebounds) and was one board shy of tying a Liacouras Center record for individual rebounds in a game.
Kamesha Hairston was also named First Team All-Big Five after taking home Most Improved Player honors last season. Hairston averaged 12.8 ppg and 6.1 rpg. She also shot an impressive 80.4% from the charity stripe and led the team with 68 steals. She was a member of the 2006 Atlantic 10 First Team.
Khadija Bowens earned her first-ever Big Five honor as a member of the Second Team. Bowens was named Big Five Player of the Week on February 5 after scoring a team-high 21 points, including 14 in the first half, to give Temple a 72-53 win at Penn.
Candice Borrows was selected to the Big 5's All-Academic team. The sophomore accounting major has posted a 3.83 GPA in two years at Temple.
