WOMEN'S CREW PLACES NINTH AT METRO CHAMPIONSHIPS

WORCESTER, MA -- Temple women's Crew placed ninth of 13 teams at he ECAC Metro Championships held Saturday, May 6 on Lake Quinsigamond. The Owls scored a total of 25 points at the regatta which was won by Massachusetts.
The varsity 8 comprised of freshman Laura Altimari (bow), sophomore Amanda Barr (2), junior Rachel Jordan (3), junior Lauren Fattori (4), senior Kristen Herrmann (5), senior Nicole Warrick (6), senior Ulana Luciw (7), junior Steph Hanlin (stroke) and senior Sarah Evancho (cox), placed sixth in the Grand Final, finished in a time of 7:21.97.
The novice eight comprised of freshman Jill Ploof (cox), freshman Jess Herrmann (stroke), freshman Laura Scullin (7), freshman Meghan Shirley (6), freshman Katie Reiersen (5), freshman Maria DiChiacchio (4), freshman Juliana Rausch (3),sophomore Danielle Britton (2) and freshman Amanda Concha (bow) had the best finish for the Owls, placing fifth in a time of 7:39.70.
Temple's second varsity eight placed rowed fifth in the Petite Final. The second eight was comprised of senior Carrie Kelley (cox), sophomore Laura Austin (stroke), senior Emily Smith (7), junior Anne Mikolajewski (6), junior Leah Silverstein (5), junior Kate Guth (4), junior Nicole Toner (3), junior Sara Nguyen (2) and sophomore Jackie Swan (bow).
The Temple women next take the water at the Dad Vail Regatta this weekend (May 13-14) on the Schuylkill River.
