WOMEN'S TRACK FINISHES NINTH AT A-10S

CHARLOTTE, NC - Junior Tynisha Gardner met ECAC qualifying standards in the 400m to finish fourth and freshman Devon DuPont placed second in the heptathlon as the Temple women's track and field team finished ninth at the Atlantic 10 Championships at Charlotte this weekend. Gardner ran a season-best time of 56.71 while DuPont scored 4,134 points in her first A-10 Championship.

Sophomore Lady Comfort finished second in the shot put with a mark of 43-5 3/4 in her first conference meet since joining the team from the women's basketball squad. Sophomore Shavaun Christian was sixth in the high jump (5-3), while DuPont was seventh in the long jump (17-4).

Sophomore Cheryl Anscombe was seventh in the 100m (12.67) and classmate Shanice DePass finished eighth in the 800m (2:16.94). The 4x100 and 4x400 relays both finished sixth, respectively, with times of 49.19 and 3:58.91.

Charlotte won the team title with 210 points, followed by Richmond (112), Rhode Island (97.25), Dayton (90.5), Duquesne (88), Fordham (72), La Salle (70), Massachusetts (50.25), Temple (38.5), Saint Joseph's (24.5) and Xavier (5).

Temple returns to the track at the ECAC Championships from May 11-14 at Princeton.
