PHILADELPHIA - Junior Eddie Romero scored in the 18th minute and the goalkeeper tandem of junior Tony Pratico and sophomore Bryant Hosler combined on a shutout as Temple topped Villanova, 1-0, in an exhibition match at Drexel Field Saturday evening, The match was part of the Philadelphia Soccer 7 Play Day.
Romero took a pass in the box and pushed the ball past a diving Wildcat keeper. The Owls had a pair of scoring opportunities in the second half due to the speed of freshman Augustin Coly, but were unable to finish.
Pratico started and was credited with two saves while Hosler came into the game in the second half and made an impressive save midway through the period to preserve the win.
The Owls open regular season play at Philadelphia University on Saturday, August 26 (noon).
