PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's soccer team continues its offensive struggles, falling to La Salle, 3-0, at McCarthy Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Owls, now scoreless streak over the last 515 minutes of action, fall to 1-5-1 on the season. The Explorers improve to 3-3-1. The match counts in the Philadelphia Soccer 7 standings, but is not an Atlantic 10 contest.
Jim Davis broke a scoreless tie in the 38th minute off an assist by Joe Heavy to give La Salle a 1-0 advantage. Kevin Lydic put the Explorers ahead by two goals just four minutes later off assists from Taylor Young and Joey Foster.
La Salle tacked on an insurance goal midway through the second half when Brian Barry fed Daniel Heavey in the 67th minute. Heavey beat Temple keeper Bryant Hosler (three saves) to make it 3-0.
Temple pressured La Salle keeper Dan Pfeiffer (five saves) throughout the second half. The Owls fired 13 of their 15 shots at the Explorer goal over the final 45 minutes, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Senior Ryan Heins led Temple with five shots, two on goal.
Temple next plays at Lafayette Tuesday (7:00 p.m.).
