Temple Completes Play At The UNC Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, NC - The Temple men's tennis team struggled against tough competition Saturday at the UNC Invitational. The Owls won three of seven singles matches on their final day of competition at the event.
Freshman Gonzalo De Villa won both of his matches to lead Temple. De Villa first defeated Richmond's Mark Berajawal, 6-3, 7-5, 10-1 and then in a pro-set, bested Jared Smoke of Navy, 8-6.
Junior Philip Gegenheimer defeated Dan Schinke of North Carolina State, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, for Temple other singles win. He then lost to Eduardo Pinto of Virginia Tech, 6-3, 6-4.
Freshman Pavlos Stephanides dropped tow singles matches, falling to Navy's Alex James, 6-0, 7-5 and North Carolina's Will Plyler, 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore Nathan Spunda lost his only match of the day, 6-2, 7-5, to Sebastian Guejman of North Carolina.
The Owls play at the South Carolina Invitational on October 13.
